Quality and Experience...
The majority of the logs Dutchland uses are white pine;
however, we also have cedar logs available. Our logs are cut and milled by
local Amish craftsmen with a long-standing history of woodworking skills.
Our logs are 5-1/2" high and range from 3-1/2" to 7-1/2"
thick. The 5-1/2" x 7-1/2" size is the one most frequently used in
log homes. One and one-half-inch thick ship-lap log siding is also available.
The logs are designed with either a flat or round interior and feature a drip
edge for the exterior. Logs are air-dried for a minimum of six months and
treated with a durable non-toxic wood preservative. |

Energy efficiency is a hallmark of our log construction. Each 6"x 8"
log gives 7-1/2" of actual wood thickness. Corners are mortised butt and
pass. A special gasket between logs and lag bolts every two to three feet
forms a solid structure. For example, our 5,000 square-foot model home averages
only $100.00 per month to heat. Besides energy efficiency, our log homes' sturdy
construction also offers a sound barrier from the outside, muffling nature's
sounds of wind and thunder.

Generally, delivery time for logs is two weeks. Dutchland
Construction
will ship any part or all of the materials needed for a log home, and will use
materials according to customer's specifications.
Although our website does include available complete and partial home kits,
Dutchland Construction specializes in custom, computerized
designs using our own draftsmen. You can fax us your
plans or bring them with you if you would like to
visit our Model Home in Berlin, Ohio. You can even
mail us a floppy disk with drawings and pictures of your
favorite plans (formatted in JPEG or GIF, for example.) We have the technology
and experience to custom design a home to meet
your individual needs.
